UNDER CAR BOMB ATTACK AT SPAMOUNT

The Police Federation for Northern Ireland utterly condemns the attack on one of its members last night. This was a cowardly and determined attempt to kill an officer and in so doing undermine the resolve of the police. Such attacks have not worked in the past and will not succeed now or in the future.

The Secretary of the Federation, Stevie McCann, will be raising the matter at an already scheduled meeting with the Chief Constable on Thursday morning. In the meantime the Federation urges all officers to be on their guard at all times.

We would also urge the wider community to help the police in any way possible to bring to an end all dissident terrorism activity from whatever quarter.
