Viable devices found Carbet Road Portadown

Police in Portadown are appealing for information following the discovery of four viable pipe bomb type devices in the Carbet Road yesterday, 31 January.

Police received a report of a suspicious object in a field shortly after 10am. Officers and ATO attended. Four devices were found in a box and made safe. They were taken away for further examination.

Police conducted wider searches of the area however nothing further was found.

Craigavon Area Commander, Chief Inspector Anthony McNally said: "These devices were left lying in an open area with no thought for who may come across around them. We are extremely fortunate that we were able to make them safe before anyone was injured or worse.

"I am asking the community for their assistance in this investigation. Carbet Road is a quiet area and any activity would have been noticeable. I am asking anyone who observed any activity in the area to contact detectives at Mahon Road. If you have any other information in relation to this incident please phone us on 0845 600 8000."
