Police Pay 2007 - Update on negotiations at Police Negotiating Board (P.N.B) 27th July 2007
At a meeting of the Full P.N.B held in London on Friday 27th July 2007, the Official Side who have been intransigent from the outset regarding these negotiations, rejected the Staff Side's claim for an uprating in Police pay of 3.94%.
The Official Side was not prepared to increase its "opening" offer nor would it indicate that its derisory offer of 2.325% had the support of each of the Government representatives.
The Independent Chairman recognised that a "failure to agree" had been reached and as such sought both the Official and Staff Side's view on the value of a period of conciliation. The Staff Side has made it clear that such conciliation is unlikely to arrive at a satisfactory conclusion. However, the Independent Chair will decide later this week as to whether he deems it appropriate to engage both Sides in conciliation. Failing this then terms of reference for arbitration and a date for same will be set in due course.
We will advise our membership of any future developments.
