Resignation of the Chief Constable, Sir Ronnie Flanagan
The Police Federation for Northern Ireland, which represents all officers from the rank of Constable to Chief Inspector, today expressed its appreciation at the leadership and service of the Chief Constable, Sir Ronnie Flanagan.
The Chief Constable has led the Police Service through a particularly difficult time; he has shown vision, courage and leadership and has recognised the sensitivities of the sacrifice of this Force. It is to be deeply regretted that some members of the Policing Board should have issued such graceless comments which ill become the role with which they have been entrusted as members of the Board. The Federation hopes that with mature reflection that they will recognise the contribution that Sir Ronnie has made to the Police Service and acknowledge that role accordingly.
