ACCESS
TO POLICE ESTABLISHMENTS CONFIRMED
Representatives of the Police
Federation for Northern Ireland and the Retired Officers Association met with Mr
Paul Leighton, Deputy Chief Constable, PSNI, earlier today to discuss issues of
mutual concern, in particular, admission of retired officers to police
establishments.
The meeting, which was held in
a cordial manner, was productive and the two representative bodies were pleased
to note the PSNI’s commitment to our retired officers and indeed our greater
police family, especially our RUC GC Widows. These re-assurances by the Deputy Chief Constable have
convinced us that there is no attempt to airbrush the RUC GC out of existence as
has been suggested in some quarters in recent days.
We look forward to working
constructively with the Deputy Chief Constable on the important issue of access.
