Psychiatric Illness Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
For sometime the Federation have been considering the possibility of a claim for failure to diagnose and/or treat PTSD. Following legal advice at the highest level the central committee has agreed to initiate the action.
This is a massive undertaking administratively, legally and financially. In the first instance a letter setting out the basis of proceeding and
provide a return slip for those who can evidence the illness. This will be followed up by a questionnaire to be completed by those who request it. The solicitors will then consider each case and proceed as appropriate to legal action.
The timetable is as follows: -
| Phase 1: |
Week commencing October 10th, 20,000 Letters to serving and ex members. Completed November 2000. |
| Phase 2: |
Issue of questionnaires overlapping phase 1 completed 1 January 2001. |
| Phase 3: |
Assesment by solicitors and commencement of legal action. |
If you or an ex member known to you has not received the initial letter by November, you can now download a pdf version.
If you feel that this letter is relevant to you then please print, complete and return it to the Federation by 30th November 2000.
