The Federation - Regions
No. 1 Regional Board
Once again the Board has had another busy
year. A number of members left or are due
to leave because of retirement and transfers.
We also welcomed a number of new
members onto the Board. We wish those
Representatives that have left us all our best
wishes for the future and hope that our
new Representatives bring knowledge and
determination and find their term enjoyable.
We assure them of our support in all matters
and look forward to working with them on a
professional and personal level.
The Board Representatives continued
to support our colleagues in matters of
discipline, ranging from Ombudsman
interviews and up to and including disciplinary hearings.
We have also taken an active involvement
in investigating and promoting Health
and Safety at local level by attending
Health and Safety Committee meetings.
We have endeavoured to raise the need
for all accidents and near misses to be
reported and also the requirement for
trained Representatives to investigate these
reported incidents.
Finally, it should be pointed out that
this Board was disappointed that the
Government has broken the spirit of
Arbitration and has not backdated our pay
increase to September 2007. We will monitor
the outcome regarding this matter and offer
our support to the Federation Family, both
nationally and locally.
