The Federation - Regions
No. 2 Regional Board
During the year we have seen changes to the
membership of our Regional Board. We welcome our
new colleagues, assuring them of our support as they
strive to maintain a healthy working environment,
whilst seeking fair and acceptable conditions for
all. We still have vacancies to fill and perhaps this
gives rise to concern. We are hopeful that this will be
resolved within the proposed PFNI structural reform,
designed to take account of the new DCU structures.
We go forward into an uncertain future, apprehensive
of what the reduction in numbers will have on our
working life. We will endeavour to obtain the most
up-to-date and user friendly equipment to help our
officers serve the community. We welcome the steps
taken to address childcare difficulties and hope that there are more innovative ideas to come.
Our Full-Time Reserve colleagues were informed of
the phasing out process of their role within PSNI
from 1 April 2008, culminating with the last officer
leaving the Service by 31 March 2011. We cannot
thank them enough for their devotion to duty and
we wish them well for the future.
We welcome the desire for a “peaceful” community
to serve but are ever mindful of the real and
serious threat which remains within Northern
Ireland.
We look forward to the challenges which the PFNI
will face as the Workforce Modernisation Agenda is
pursued. As Federation Representatives we remain
committed to improving the welfare and efficiency
of those in the PSNI.
