No. 4 Regional Board
This year has been another busy year for
members of this Regional Board.
The introduction of the new District
Structure and the resulting changes have
kept our members occupied with many
meetings and working groups. Our purpose
is to ensure that the changes are dealt
with properly and cause the least possible
disruption to our membership. For the
first time we have had to work closely with
our neighbouring Regional Boards as the
new District Command Units presently
encompass two different Regional Board
areas. It is to the credit of the members of
this Regional Board that they have entered
into these discussions in a focused and
determined manner.
The members of this Board have also taken
a very active interest in the decision of the
Chief Constable with regard to the Full-
Time Reserve. We have raised questions
and issues, both locally and at Central
Committee level, as to the way in which the
merit list and duration of contracts are to
be determined. We will continue to look
after the interests of our Full-Time Reserve
colleagues.
All of this has taken place on top of the
existing work which is carried out by various
Board members regarding Health and Safety,
Discipline and Welfare matters.
Finally, the members of the Board would
like to give special mention to Paul Riddles
for the endless work he carries out as our
RUC Benevolent Fund Representative. Since
taking on the role Paul has worked tirelessly
in a very quiet and unassuming manner.
