Launch of PFNI Strategy - Federation Future Focus 2024-2030
In early 2023 the Police Federation for Northern Ireland began work on a strategic review. Following changes in personnel and a need to assess our demands, we felt it was important that in order to effectively plan and prioritise for the future, we needed to critically review what we were doing, establish where we wanted to go and set out a strategy on how we would achieve this.
PFNI officials and staff led on this key piece of work with the mindset of continuous improvement to clarify key areas of opportunity, challenges facing the organisation and how we address and build on the services we offer.
To inform our strategy, we consulted with our membership, elected representatives, staff, internal and external stakeholders. This was carried out via a number of means including electronic surveys, interviews, workshops and focus groups. This consultation allowed us to capture a wide range of views and has helped to shape our revised strategic vision, purpose and values.
It is clear from our consultation and engagement that the challenges facing the service are unprecedented and in order for us to continue to provide services and support to our members, we need to focus on how we do business and what improvements can be made.
The strategy set’s out why we need to change, what we are trying to achieve and how we will achieve this. We are keen to begin work on the strategy whilst recognising that it will take both time and patience to embed change.
However, we are fully motivated and focused to ensure that we continue to provide services and support to our members now and into the future and that the voice of our members continue to be at the heart of all that we do.
