Pay Award 2023/24
Colleagues
On the 20th June 2023 our Pay and Remuneration Review Board sent their 2023/24 recommendations through to the Department of Justice for their consideration. In the absence of having a devolved Government and Justice Minister these recommendations were not progressed and PFNI and other stakeholders were not provided with a copy of those recommendations. As such we have been regrettably left to prepare and submit our 2024/25 pay submission without the benefit of having sight of the 2023/24 recommendations.
At around 4pm this afternoon the PFNI were tagged on a social media post on X (formally Twitter) that our Justice Minister had now considered and agreed the 2023/24 recommendations. We welcome this but want to make you aware that we were not formally notified about this by the Department of Justice via the usual channels of email or telephone call and are still unsighted on what those specific agreed recommendations actually are. We understand that PSNI have already prepared and submitted a business case to the Department of Justice on the basis of a 7% uplift to our core pay spines and NITA backdated to 1st September 2023. From speaking to the Chief Constable this business case has raised a few clarification questions from the Department of Justice which he has committed to responding to by tomorrow.
I am hopeful that the associated bureaucracy in finalising this matter between PSNI, the Department of Justice and the Department of Finance can be progressed and concluded as expeditiously as possible to enable the long overdue award to be in your pay packets.
PFNI will provide further commentary in due course.
