Bravery awards postponed, nominations reopen

It is with deep regret, that we have had to postpone the inaugural PFNI Bravery Awards event, which was scheduled to take place on Thursday 25th February at the Culloden Hotel. Quite simply, it was impossible to plan for or to hold such an event in the current circumstances.

We will now aim for a suitable date in the last quarter of the year at the same venue and when confirmed, I will communicate again with you.

We have already received many nominations from across the Service and I have been in total awe of many examples of bravery shown by you and your colleagues.

In the interim, we have decided to reopen the nominations process for an additional period.

Nominations will now be accepted up until 31st May 2021.

Bravery comes in many forms and we are looking for nominations where officers have:

  1. risked their own lives to save members of the public;
  2. dealt with violent offenders;
  3. responding to or been involved in terrorist incidents;
  4. involvement in distressing incidents / investigations;

This is not an exhaustive list and I know that you will have many such examples of the exemplary work you and your colleagues carry out. This is an opportunity for you to nominate your peers and in the company of your partners and colleagues celebrate the great work which we all know occurs on an all too regular basis.

How to Nominate

  1. Nominations are welcomed from all areas of the service to include Constables, Sergeants, Inspectors and Chief Inspectors and Part time reserve.
  2. Nominations should be made for acts of bravery, where officers have shown courage and professionalism in challenging circumstances. This can be both on and off duty.
  3. Nominations are welcomed for both for individuals and teams.
  4. Incidents must have taken place within the last two years, no earlier than 1 July 2018.
  5. Please include as much detail as possible to include date and time of incident and serial numbers where applicable. Continue on a separate sheet if necessary.
  6. Please return your completed nomination form to us at PFNI Offices Garnerville via email to [email protected].
